Google gave a sneak peek of its long-awaited tablet which will run a special new version of Android nicknamed Honeycomb.
The Google Honeycomb tablet, which was briefly unveiled at an event in San Francisco by Google Anroid expert Andy Rubin, will be built by Motorola and is due to be released next year.
No specifications were given out by the Mr. Rubin but may believe it will be an upgraded version of Stingray, Motorola's contribution to the tablet wars, which will also be released next year.

Simon Stanford, managing director for the mobile division of Samsung UK and Ireland, has confirmed that the Android-based Galaxy Tab will be released on All Saints Day in the UK.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a very unique proposition to the tablet market and gives consumers the ultimate in connectivity and portability that they have been waiting for.

Another tablet has been unveiled, this time by the makers of the BlackBerry, Research in Motion (RIM). It's called the PlayBook and is half the size of the Apple iPad, weighs the same as the Apple iPad, but is just 9.77mm thick.
RIM's PlayBook has two high-def front and rear cameras, runs on a 1GHz dual-core CPU (drool...), supports 1080p high-def video, supports Adobe Flash, Wi-Fi and BlueTooth. The PlayBook doesn't run on Windows or Android, instead RIM chose to use its own QNX Software Systems which it acquired in April this year.
A fabulous feature of the new PlayBook is that through a secure wireless link, the Playbook can also be used as a second and bigger screen for their smart phone. And when they disconnect the two, no secure BlackBerry data will be left on the PlayBook.
Says RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, "RIM set out to engineer the best professional-grade tablet in the industry with cutting-edge hardware features and one of the world's most robust and flexible operating systems."
"The BlackBerry PlayBook solidly hits the mark with industry leading power, true multitasking, uncompromised web browsing and high performance multimedia."
Due to dwindling sales of the BlackBerry, the unveiling of the PlayBook brings RIM back in the playing field especially in the business sector.

Sharp has joined the fray of e-book and tablet manufactures with the announcement of a 5.5-inch mobile type and a 10.8-inch home type named the Galapagos.
According to Sharp, the term "Galapagos" is in reference to the islands that inspired 19th Century British biologist Charles Darwin to formulate his theory of evolution.
The Galapagos devices will automatically download fee-based updates of different newspapers and magazines and will serve as a "concierge" for users by recommending books they might like using their purchasing history.
Pricing and other details of the Sharp Galapagos are slated to be announced later this year.
Rival Sony also announced its plans to release its own tablet with the year.
The HP Slate protoype touch-screen tablet features front-side and back cameras. Unlike the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab which runs on modified mobile operating systems, the HP Slate runs on full-fledge Windows 7. With the acquisition of Palm the HP Slate could sprout another version and may be called PalmPad.

BlackBerry maker RIM, seeing its market share dwindle due to an influx of Androd smartphones, is set to take on a new direction according to the Wall Street Journal.
At a developer's conference in San Francisco next week, RIM is going to launch a seven-inch touchscreen with built-in camera being nicknamed "BlackPad" for obvious reasons.

The iPad's success with millions already sold and many stores running out of stock in just a few mere months has had major PC manufacturers looking like wannabes.
With the initial success of Apple's iPad and the standard set so high, it's going to be a long climb before anyone can challenge the king of the hill.

With the introduction of Samsung's Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch Android-powered tablet, comes a true and valid iPad contender. For some time reports of so-called iPad contenders or iPad killer tablets from HP and LG among others are still unavailable at this point but so is the Samsung Galaxy Tab. What sets Samsung apart is that they have at least announced and showed an actualy working device.

It looks like an iPad but costs way way way way cheaper. India's HR development minister, Kapil Sibal, unveiled a $35 (roughly PhP1650) that runs on Linux but may run on the Android OS.

Microsoft seems to be on a wait-and-see basis in creating their tech gadgets and they haven't been that successful either in marketing or selling these tech gadgets. For example, the Zune and Kin were announced after millions of iPods and iPhones were sold.
