Outrage erupts like Mt. Sinubang among Xbox subscribers as Microsoft pumps up the annual cost for an Xbox Live Gold membership. Beginning November 1, a Xbox Live Gold membership is going to cost from $49.99 to $59.99 in the U.S. A three month subscription will in turn jump from $19.99 to $24.99. And a month-to-month subscription from $7.99 to $9.99. Other countries to be subjected to the new cost will be Canada, Mexico, and the UK.
"Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same," wrote Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb on his Xbox-themed blog. "We're confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry."
