How To Setup PLDT On Linksys

When my wife applied for a DSL Internet connection from PLDT, they provided her a ZyXEL P-600 Modem Router which, as you can see in the picture provided, has only one Ethernet connection and no wireless.

I bought a Linksys router modem to share the internet connection since there was more than two computers in the house.

My first plan was to relay the IP from the PLDT router and make the Linksys router into an access point. It worked, but only up to a certain extent--only one PC could connect.

I called up PLDT to ask for assistance, unfortunately they were not that helpful about configuring third-party routers. They were kind enough though to give out the password for their router modem, "1234" which should be the same for your PLDT router.

To access the setup page, you will have to set a static IP address for your Ethernet card as shown in the picture below.

After setting the static IP address, open your Internet browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 to view PLDT's setup. It should look like this:

Name: MyISP
Mode: Bridged
Encapsulation: RFC 1483
Multiplexing: LLC
VPI: 0
VCI: 100

That's about all the data you're going to need to configure your Linksys (or most third-party routers for that matter).
