Fring Two-Way Video Call Now On The Android

If you've never heard of Fring before, well it is a FREE mobile application that works much the same as any chat application for mobiles--except for one feature. Fring can make two-way video calls and it works on the Skype network--although it should work with other video chatting services like GTalk and Yahoo Messenger among others.
I just find Skype much more better with their services. Just download the Fring application from fring.com, install, and sign in to your favorite video chat service and you're good to go. You can make a two-way video call from phone-to-phone and phone-to-PC or vice versa. Of course data rates will still apply so, unless 3G rates are really low in your area, it would be best to connect to a WiFi hotspot when making two-way video calls.

Fring's two-way mobile video calls work better on smartphones with high-performing CPUs. Since Fring uses your phone's camera as the webcam, you'll find the calling feature more useful if you've got a phone with a front-facing camera, like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i.

I have already tested the service on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It's not a perfect application yet as it was laggy at times and sometimes the video from my contact would not show or would just stop. I would still prefer a laptop or PC to make two-way video calls but the option to do so from my phone is one I am glad to have.

Previously, Fring's two-way video call was only available for the iPhone and with the latest Symbian S60 versions, but a Thursday update to Fring for Android 2.1 added the two-way video call feature.
