Lately, a lot of TV manufacturers have been releasing 3D TVs like hotcakes. But sales have been hampered because despite the promising features of a 3D TV, it is still too inconvinient to have to wear special, and might I say, bulky glasses. TVs that don't require glasses to view 3D could provide a needed boost to the technology.
Toshiba Japan plans to come through by releasing three 3D TV models, including one with a 21-inch screen, the Japanese newspaper The Yomiuri Shimbun reported, quoting company sources. The 3D TVs are expected to cost several thousand yen (roughly $1,180) and could arrive in time for the holiday shopping season.
Toshiba's innovation in 3D TVs is in developing an imaging system that emits rays of light at different angles, making it possible for viewers to recreate a 3D image in their brains, according to Shimbun. The technology doesn't strain the eyes and the 3D image can be seen from different angles.
No date has been announced yet for the release of these innovative 3D TVs.
In the meantime, 3D glasses are still the norm these days. Check out a guide on how to make DIY 3D glassess.
