Google's Blogger Template Designer

I opened the Design tab on Blogger to find a new feature called the Template Designer. I've been using custom templates for TechEncounter.Net and PraiseChords.Net which I think most bloggers do for their Blogger sites too. Perhaps in a bid to spice up their boring templates, Google launched the Blogger Template Designer.

To use the Blogger Template Designer, you would have to choose from the five custom templates from Blogger then from the five given templates (Simple, Picture Window, Awesome Inc., Watermark, and Ethereal), you have more looks to choose from.

If you don't like the default background image, you can change it by selecting the Background tab and choose from a wide array of pictures provided by Blogger. Unfortunately, you can't have your own photo as the background. Now, where's the fun in that?

The Layout option, though, is what I like best. Previously, templates provided by blogger where limited to Header, Blog Posts, and the Sidebar. With the Blogger Template Designer, you can now change the way your blog would look. Choose from a simple two-row template to a four-column one. They've also added a Footer layout selection which is used by most professional bloggers. Finally, your blog footer won't be so boring. Without playing around with the html code, you can now also adjust the width size of your blog to the exact size you want.

The Advanced Tab is where you would want to play around with the fonts and colors for your blog. That's nice but what really caught my eye was the "Add CSS" feature. I'm going to try this out on my trend blogs.

What do you think about Google's Blogger Template Designer?
